What does the Village Trustee Do?

Our Mission

Lifelong Goshen residents Christy & Jake Kriney for Village Trustee. Focused on infrastructure, grants to protect taxpayers, efficient budgeting, fair enforcement, and open communication so every resident feels heard.

Christy and Jake Kriney are lifelong Goshen residents, parents, and local business owners who know this community from the inside out. Christy brings advanced education, grant-writing experience, and a plan to strengthen water and sewer infrastructure, modernize DPW, and secure state and federal funding to protect taxpayers while improving services. Jake brings years of experience running successful businesses, managing large teams and complex budgets, and working with municipal planning, construction, and contracts. Together, they will ensure fair code and Airbnb enforcement, responsible budgeting, and real transparency on issues like Legoland water revenue so residents know how every dollar is used.

Why Christy & Jake Are the Right Choice

  • Infrastructure & Utilities: They oversee the Water and Sewer Departments. This includes authorizing tank inspections, repairing water mains, and managing the local DPW (Department of Public Works) for tasks like snow plowing and leaf collection.

  • Public Safety: The board approves the hiring of police officers and accepts grant funding for the Goshen Police Department.

  • Land Use & Property: They approve "Use of Village Property" requests. If a group wants to hold a graduation at a village park or if the Chamber of Commerce needs space for the Great American Weekend, these Trustees are the ones who vote "yes" or "no."

  • Fiscal Management: They manage the Village Budget (which runs from June 1 to May 31). This includes approving "Abstracts" (lists of bills the village needs to pay) and setting the fee schedules for local services.

  • Zoning & Local Law: They hold public hearings and vote on local laws, such as air quality testing at Village Hall or naming new roads in adult communities.

Strengthen water and sewer infrastructure to protect essential services and ensure sustainability.

Modernize DPW equipment while protecting taxpayers by prioritizing state and federal grants.

Ensure residents feel heard through open communication and transparent leadership.

Goals and Priorities

Work with the village’s building department to ensure it has the staffing and resources needed to efficiently process building applications, monitor compliance with the new village Airbnb regulations, and enforce our village code consistently and fairly.

Take a fresh look at the village budget to ensure our tax dollars are being spent responsibly and efficiently.

Transparency and accountability about where that money has gone and how it will be used moving forward.
